Rev. Charles L. Souvay, C.M. papers
In 1917, the Provincial Council tasked Rev. Charles Souvay, C.M. with writing a history of the Congregation of the Mission in the United States. Souvay researched and preserved an extensive profile on early American Vincentians, compiling transcripts of Vincentian correspondence, diaries, publications, and various notes about the founders of the American Missions.
The documents presented here offer detailed descriptions of St. Mary's of the Barrens Seminary in its early years and shed light on its reliance on enslaved labor.
